Grow is Mediavine’s full‑service engagement suite that helps publishers connect with their audiences more easily. It gives publishers the insights to understand reader behavior, create content that resonates, and build deeper relationships. When readers sign up for Grow, they can access exclusive content, save and share favorite posts, and subscribe to a publisher’s newsletter.
My job was to redesign the widget, the Publisher Portal, and create a brand new design library. In this section, we will be exploring some of the design library assets!
In the Beginning, There Was A Widget…
You might have actually seen this guy before if you’ve been on … any recipe blog in the past 5 years. I redesigned the widget through a rebrand and added features and customizability to increase publisher adoption; making the save icon customizable, creating theme colors while still prioritizing accessibility, and adding sweet animations that drew the reader to engage.
Grow Micro Animation Design
When working on Grow, the animations were my favorite part. A lot of the settings were…. arcane, so getting to visually illustrate them using fun iconography was a treat. These animations were done entirely through Figma prototyping!

Below, you fill find excerpts of Grow’s design library I created from scratch and maintained for the Grow Publisher Portal. Every font was a style, every color linked. Text fields? Accounted for. Dark Mode? Light Mode? Extra Dark? Yessir. Tables, graphs, cards, all assets that can be quickly edited and customized on the fly for mockup purposes. Chips. Buttons. Error states. Disabled states. Pop-ups. Overlays. Banners. Drop downs. We’ve got ‘em right here.
Grow has over 10,000 active installations on Wordpress, and even more users install Grow via code snippet. This style guide and components are what users interact with every day!
